Who should pick which
Neither product exists under its old name. Windsurf is now Devin Desktop (Cognition, June 2026), and Continue was acquired by Cursor, with its repo read-only after a final 2.0.0 release. If you want something maintained, the real choice is Devin Desktop (free plan, Pro $20/month) or another live tool. Keep running Continue's open-source extension only if you need a self-run, bring-your-own-model setup and can live without updates.
